Dom Theobald Artist Talk

Meet Artist Dom Theobald and learn about his inspirations, techniques and processes.

Dom is a painter, printmaker and digital artist who has lived and worked in East Anglia for over 30 years. His artwork has been exhibited in galleries around the world - in London, Portugal, Japan, USA and more. Dom is a teacher of painting, etching, photography and drawing, and hosts weekly workshops in his studio in Mettingham.

Dom Theobald‘s luminously coloured and richly textured semi-abstract works derive from a wide variety of sources - cartoon forms, music, botanical drawings, documentary photographs, film and found objects among them. Many of his new paintings and etchings take as their departure point his experience of the East Anglian landscape and coastline. Into these scenes, he has placed forms: "houses and rivers, trees and paths, boats and clouds... Painting starts with elements and with abstraction, and relies on rhythm, repetition, rhyme and the spaces between."

Dom Theobald's artwork is currently on exhibition at The Canteen, Southwold from 1st July - 28th September. His artwork, postcards and mugs are available to purchase.

The artist talk will be held in The Studio, to the left of The Canteen. Doors open at 9:30am and the talk will start at 9:45am.

The ticket includes light refreshments and house-made cake, provided by The Canteen, which will be served after the talk.
