Pay It Forward
The Pay It Forward scheme allows guests of The Canteen to 'round up' their bill or leave a donation to the fund.
The Pay It Forward concept, as eloquently described by Benjamin Franklin in 1784, entails lending money without expecting repayment. Franklin suggested passing on the borrowed sum to another honest person in need, encouraging a chain of goodwill. In his words, "I hope it may thus go through many hands before it meets with a Knave that will stop its Progress. This is a trick of mine for doing a deal of good with a little money."
